Our Take
Our Take
Scottish indie darlings Frightened Rabbit are back with their latest offering, "Pedestrian Verse". As the title suggests, this album is far from pedestrian, delivering a mix of introspective lyrics and infectious melodies that will have you tapping your feet and contemplating life's big questions simultaneously.
Lead singer Scott Hutchison's distinctive vocals shine on tracks like "The Woodpile" and "Late March, Death March", his raw emotion cutting through the band's sweeping instrumentals like a knife through butter. The band's trademark blend of folk and indie rock is on full display here, with tracks like "Backyard Skulls" and "Acts of Man" showcasing their ability to craft catchy, yet thought-provoking songs.
While some may dismiss Frightened Rabbit as just another indie band, "Pedestrian Verse" proves that they are anything but. The band's witty lyricism and tight musicianship set them apart from their peers, creating an album that is as introspective as it is infectious.
So, whether you're a long-time fan or a newcomer to the Frightened Rabbit experience, "Pedestrian Verse" is sure to satisfy. So grab your headphones, press play, and let the Scottish charm wash over you in all its quirky glory. Because let's face it, we could all use a little Frightened Rabbit in our lives.

About the artist
Frightened Rabbit
FRIGHTENED RABBIT: The Scottish quartet with a knack for blending introspective lyrics with infectious indie hooks. Hailing from Selkirk, FRIGHTENED RABBIT burst onto the music scene in 2006 with their debut album, "Sing the Greys." Frontman Scott Hutchison's raw and emotionally charged songwriting quickly caught the attention of music lovers around the world. Their follow-up album, "The Midnight Organ Fight," solidified their place in the indie music landscape. Tracks like "Keep Yourself Warm" and "The Modern Leper" showcased the band's ability to tackle heavy subject matter with a wry sense of humour and irresistible melodies. With each subsequent release, including "The Winter of Mixed Drinks" and "Pedestrian Verse," FRIGHTENED RABBIT continued to evolve their sound while staying true to their roots. Their music has a way of making you feel like you're sitting down for a heart-to-heart with an old friend, albeit one who can also rock out on stage like nobody's business. Tragically, the band's journey came to a heartbreaking end with the passing of Scott Hutchison in 2018. His lyrics, which have always been marked by a poignant mix of vulnerability and resilience, now carry an even greater weight. FRIGHTENED RABBIT may no longer be gracing stages with their presence, but their music lives on as a testament to the healing power of art. So, put on "The Midnight Organ Fight," pour yourself a glass of whisky, and let FRIGHTENED RABBIT's music wrap you in a warm, angsty embrace.
