Our Take

Ah, INXS. The Australian band that brought us hits like "Need You Tonight" and "New Sensation." Their 1985 album "Listen Like Thieves" is a perfect snapshot of the band at the height of their powers.

From the moment you press play on the title track, you're transported to a world of funky basslines, catchy hooks, and frontman Michael Hutchence's sultry vocals. It's the kind of album that makes you want to dance around your living room in your underwear, much to the dismay of your neighbours.

Tracks like "What You Need" and "Kiss the Dirt (Falling Down the Mountain)" showcase the band's ability to blend rock, pop, and funk seamlessly, while ballads like "This Time" and "Shine Like It Does" tug at your heartstrings in the best way possible.

But what truly sets "Listen Like Thieves" apart is its energy. It's the kind of album that never lets up, keeping you on your toes from start to finish. Whether you're a die-hard INXS fan or just discovering their music for the first time, this album is guaranteed to make you want to listen like a thief, stealing every moment of joy it has to offer. Trust us, you won't regret it.

About the artist

INXS

INXS Profile: If you grew up in the 80s, chances are you've spun an INXS record or two (or fifty) on your turntable. This Australian band burst onto the music scene in the early 80s with their unique blend of rock, new wave, and funk, quickly becoming one of the biggest bands in the world. Led by the charismatic frontman Michael Hutchence, INXS had a string of hits that still sound fresh and exciting today. But INXS was more than just their catchy tunes and Hutchence's smouldering good looks. They were pioneers of their time, blending genres and pushing the boundaries of what was considered mainstream music. Their live shows were legendary, with Hutchence prowling the stage like a man possessed, captivating audiences with his magnetic stage presence. Sadly, all good things must come to an end, and INXS' reign at the top was cut short by tragedy with the untimely death of Hutchence in 1997. But their music lives on, a testament to their talent and influence on the music world. So next time you're feeling nostalgic for the 80s, pop on an INXS album and let their infectious melodies and rockstar swagger take you back to a time when music was bold, bright, and unapologetically fun. INXS may be gone, but their music will always be here to remind us of their incredible legacy.
