Our Take

INXS' "The Very Best" compilation album is a tantalising trip down memory lane, filled with all the hits and none of the misses. This greatest hits collection serves as a reminder of the Australian band's undeniable talent and infectious energy that captured the hearts of fans worldwide.

From the iconic opening chords of "Need You Tonight" to the pulsating rhythms of "New Sensation," each track on this album is a certified banger that will have you dancing like it's the '80s all over again. Lead singer Michael Hutchence's smooth vocals and charismatic stage presence shine through on every song, reminding us why he was regarded as one of the greatest frontmen in rock history.

But it's not all about the hits on this album – INXS also showcase their versatility with tracks like "Mystify" and "Disappear," which reveal a softer, more introspective side to the band's songwriting. The inclusion of live versions of classics like "Don't Change" and "What You Need" adds an extra layer of excitement, capturing the energy and chemistry of INXS' legendary live performances.

Overall, "The Very Best" is a comprehensive collection that pays tribute to INXS' enduring legacy in the music industry. So dust off your leather pants, turn up the volume, and let the infectious grooves of INXS transport you to a time when music was bold, extravagant, and oh so much fun.

About the artist

INXS

INXS Profile: If you grew up in the 80s, chances are you've spun an INXS record or two (or fifty) on your turntable. This Australian band burst onto the music scene in the early 80s with their unique blend of rock, new wave, and funk, quickly becoming one of the biggest bands in the world. Led by the charismatic frontman Michael Hutchence, INXS had a string of hits that still sound fresh and exciting today. But INXS was more than just their catchy tunes and Hutchence's smouldering good looks. They were pioneers of their time, blending genres and pushing the boundaries of what was considered mainstream music. Their live shows were legendary, with Hutchence prowling the stage like a man possessed, captivating audiences with his magnetic stage presence. Sadly, all good things must come to an end, and INXS' reign at the top was cut short by tragedy with the untimely death of Hutchence in 1997. But their music lives on, a testament to their talent and influence on the music world. So next time you're feeling nostalgic for the 80s, pop on an INXS album and let their infectious melodies and rockstar swagger take you back to a time when music was bold, bright, and unapologetically fun. INXS may be gone, but their music will always be here to remind us of their incredible legacy.
