Our Take

INXS may have found fame Down Under, but their hits resonate around the globe like a boomerang on steroids. "The Very Best Of" captures the essence of the Australian rockers, serving up a cocktail of pop hooks, funky baselines, and Michael Hutchence's sultry vocals that could make even a wallaby blush.

From the opening riff of "Need You Tonight" to the anthemic "New Sensation" and the synth-pop gem "Devil Inside," this compilation is a rollercoaster ride through INXS' chart-topping catalogue. Hits like "Never Tear Us Apart" and "Suicide Blonde" are guaranteed to get your hips swaying and your heart racing, while lesser-known gems like "Mystify" and "Beautiful Girl" showcase the band's versatility and depth.

But what sets INXS apart from their peers? It's their ability to blend effortless cool with infectious pop sensibilities, creating a sound that's as timeless as a kangaroo crossing the Outback. Whether you're a die-hard fan or a casual listener, "The Very Best Of" is a must-have addition to your music collection.

So grab a cold one, slip on your favourite skintight leather trousers, and let INXS take you on a whirlwind tour of rock 'n' roll hedonism. This album may be a retrospective, but its energy is as fresh and electrifying as a lightning storm over Sydney Harbour. Cheers, mates!

About the artist

INXS

INXS Profile: If you grew up in the 80s, chances are you've spun an INXS record or two (or fifty) on your turntable. This Australian band burst onto the music scene in the early 80s with their unique blend of rock, new wave, and funk, quickly becoming one of the biggest bands in the world. Led by the charismatic frontman Michael Hutchence, INXS had a string of hits that still sound fresh and exciting today. But INXS was more than just their catchy tunes and Hutchence's smouldering good looks. They were pioneers of their time, blending genres and pushing the boundaries of what was considered mainstream music. Their live shows were legendary, with Hutchence prowling the stage like a man possessed, captivating audiences with his magnetic stage presence. Sadly, all good things must come to an end, and INXS' reign at the top was cut short by tragedy with the untimely death of Hutchence in 1997. But their music lives on, a testament to their talent and influence on the music world. So next time you're feeling nostalgic for the 80s, pop on an INXS album and let their infectious melodies and rockstar swagger take you back to a time when music was bold, bright, and unapologetically fun. INXS may be gone, but their music will always be here to remind us of their incredible legacy.
