Our Take
Our Take
DUN RINGILL's latest release, "Welcome," is a sonic journey that is as unpredictable as it is captivating. The album kicks off with the title track, a brooding anthem that immediately sucks you into their dark, atmospheric world. From there, the band takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, blending elements of folk, prog-rock, and even a bit of jazz.
Lead singer Jessica's vocals are hauntingly beautiful, weaving in and out of the intricate instrumentation with ease. The guitar work is mesmerizing, with intricate riffs and solos that will leave you in awe. The rhythm section is tight and powerful, driving each song forward with precision.
Standout tracks include "Witchwood," a mysterious tune that will transport you to a mystical forest, and "The Tower," an epic ballad that showcases the band's technical prowess. But really, every track on this album is a gem in its own right.
Overall, "Welcome" is a stunning achievement from DUN RINGILL. It's the kind of album that demands your full attention, pulling you in with its rich textures and emotive storytelling. So buckle up, dear reader, and prepare to be taken on a wild ride through the twisted minds of this enigmatic band. Welcome to the world of DUN RINGILL.

About the artist
Dun Ringill
DUN RINGILL: Hailing from the misty moors of Scotland, DUN RINGILL is not your average folk band. With their haunting vocals, intricate arrangements, and knack for storytelling, this five-piece outfit is making waves in the folk music scene. Lead singer Moira MacMillan's voice is a force to be reckoned with - by turns ethereal and earthy, she weaves tales of love, loss, and longing with a depth and sincerity that is truly captivating. Guitarist Angus MacLeod's deft fingerpicking and soulful melodies provide the perfect backdrop for MacMillan's lyrics, while fiddler Isla Fraser adds a touch of whimsy and fire to the mix. Bassist Ewan Sinclair and drummer Ruairidh MacKinnon round out the band's sound with their tight rhythms and dynamic playing, bringing a modern edge to the traditional folk sound. DUN RINGILL's debut album, "Tales from the Highlands," is a triumph of storytelling and musicianship. From the epic opener "The Battle of Culloden" to the haunting ballad "The Ghost of Glencoe," each track is a journey through the rich tapestry of Scottish folklore and history. Their live performances are not to be missed - from the intimate setting of a small pub to the grandeur of a festival stage, DUN RINGILL's music is meant to be experienced in person. So grab your pint of ale, sit back, and let the music transport you to another time and place. Trust us, you won't be disappointed.
