Our Take
Our Take
GREGORY ISAACS New Dance:
The late Gregory Isaacs returns from beyond the musical grave with "New Dance," a cheeky nod to his roots in reggae that simultaneously feels fresh and innovative. The album opens with the infectious "Limb by Limb," a bouncy track that will have you grooving from the first note. Isaacs' smooth vocals effortlessly glide over the hypnotic beats, showing that even in death, he still knows how to get the party started.
From there, the album delves into more introspective tracks like "Lonely Lover" and "Night Nurse," where Isaacs' soulful voice shines through, hauntingly beautiful and tinged with a sense of longing. The production on "New Dance" is top-notch, with each track sounding crisp and polished, thanks to the masterful touch of producer King Jammy.
But what really makes this album stand out is Isaacs' ability to weave in a sense of playfulness and humour throughout. Tracks like "Rumours" and "Mr. Brown" showcase his cheeky side, with witty lyrics and catchy hooks that will have you singing along in no time.
Overall, "New Dance" is a triumphant return for Gregory Isaacs, proving that even in death, he remains a force to be reckoned with in the world of reggae. So grab your dancing shoes and get ready to bop along to this infectious new album. Trust us, you won't be able to resist the rhythm.
