Our Take
Our Take
If I had a quid for every time I've been asked to review yet another "up-and-coming" folk trio, I'd be able to retire to a castle in Scotland by now. But, against all odds, Firelight Trio's self-titled debut album managed to grab my attention and hold on to it like a drunken uncle at a wedding.
From the opening track "Embers of Fate" to the closing notes of "Midnight Serenade," this album is a rollercoaster of emotions. The harmonies between Sally, John, and Dave are tighter than a hipster's jeans, and their instrumentation is on point like a diva hitting her high notes.
But what really sets Firelight Trio apart from the rest of the folk scene is their lyrics. They manage to strike that delicate balance between profound and whimsical, like a wizard with a sense of humour. You'll find yourself laughing, crying, and pondering the meaning of life all within the span of a single song.
Tracks like "Dancing With Dragons" and "Whispers in the Wind" showcase the band's ability to transport you to another time and place, where elves and fairies might just be real (or maybe that's just the whiskey talking).
So, if you're looking for an album that will make you feel like you're sitting around a campfire under a starry sky, Firelight Trio is the one for you. Just be sure to pack a marshmallow or two – you're going to want to stay a while.

About the artist
Firelight Trio
Ah, the enigmatic trio known as Firelight. Some say they were born under a full moon, others swear they're descended from a long line of musical prodigies. Whatever the truth may be, one thing is certain - their sound is as captivating as it is unconventional. Comprised of three wildly talented musicians - lead vocalist Ruby, guitar virtuoso Max, and drumming extraordinaire Alex - Firelight Trio brings a fresh and innovative approach to the indie music scene. Their blend of ethereal vocals, intricate guitar work, and pulsating rhythms creates a sonic tapestry that is as mesmerising as it is infectious. But don't let their whimsical stage presence fool you - Firelight Trio is a force to be reckoned with. Their lyrics are steeped in profound introspection and raw emotion, exploring themes of love, loss, and the human experience with a depth that belies their youthful appearance. With a loyal following of fans and a reputation for electrifying live performances, Firelight Trio is poised to take the music world by storm. Keep your ears peeled and your eyes open, because this band is on the cusp of something truly special. Trust me, you won't want to miss out on what Firelight Trio has in store.
