Our Take

Sleaford Mods have never been ones to shy away from controversy or candor, and their latest offering, "Eton Alive," is no exception. The Nottingham duo, comprised of frontman Jason Williamson and producer Andrew Fearn, deliver a scathing critique of the elite ruling class with their trademark blend of punk-infused electronic beats and razor-sharp lyricism.

From the opening track "Into the Payzone," which takes aim at the commodification of art and culture, to the blistering "Discourse," which skewers the hypocrisy of politicians and media pundits, Sleaford Mods pull no punches in their takedown of the establishment. Williamson's visceral delivery is as fiery as ever, his venomous rants cutting through the mix like a hot knife through butter.

Fearn's minimalist production provides the perfect backdrop for Williamson's diatribes, with sparse beats and rumbling basslines creating a sense of urgency and unease. Tracks like "O.B.C.T." and "When You Come Up to Me" showcase the duo's ability to craft infectious hooks without sacrificing their signature sound.

"Eton Alive" is a relentless assault on the status quo, a rallying cry for the disillusioned and disaffected. Sleaford Mods may not offer easy answers, but they sure as hell know how to make you question everything. In a world gone mad, "Eton Alive" is the soundtrack we didn't know we needed. So, turn it up loud, and let the Mods take you on a wild ride through the underbelly of modern Britain.

About the artist

Sleaford Mods

Sleaford Mods are the unlikely duo from Nottingham, UK who have been shaking up the music scene with their raw, unapologetic brand of punk-infused electronic beats. Comprised of frontman Jason Williamson and musician Andrew Fearn, the Mods have gained a reputation for their scathing lyrics, delivered in Williamson's trademark rapid-fire style. With their no-holds-barred approach to social commentary, Sleaford Mods have established themselves as the voice of the disenfranchised working class in Britain. Their lyrics capture the frustrations and struggles of everyday life, addressing issues such as unemployment, government austerity measures, and the decline of traditional British industries. But don't let their political message fool you - Sleaford Mods are not afraid to have a good time. Their energetic live performances are a sight to behold, with Williamson's stage presence commanding the audience's attention from start to finish. And Fearn's pulsating beats provide the perfect backdrop for Williamson's lyrical onslaught. In a music landscape oversaturated with manufactured pop stars and cookie-cutter bands, Sleaford Mods stand out as a refreshingly authentic and unapologetic force to be reckoned with. With their unapologetic attitude and irreverent sense of humour, they are a breath of fresh air in the music industry. So if you're looking for music that packs a punch and isn't afraid to speak truth to power, look no further than Sleaford Mods. They may not be everyone's cup of tea, but one thing's for sure - they're not here to make friends. And that's just the way we like it.
