Our Take
Sleaford Mods have always been the musical equivalent of a football hooligan on a poetry course - brash, raw, and totally unapologetic. Their latest offering, "The Demise of Planet X," is no exception. From the opening track "BrexSHIT" to the closing anthem "F**k Boris," this album is a blistering critique of the current state of affairs in the UK. Jason Williamson's cutting lyrics are delivered with the same fury and intensity that Sleaford Mods have become known for, while Andrew Fearn's minimalist beats provide the perfect backdrop for his tirades. The standout track on the album has to be "Tory Scum," a scathing indictment of the Conservative government and their failure to uphold the rights of the working class. With lines like "They've got blood on their hands / And shit in their brains," it's hard not to feel the anger and frustration that permeate the song. Overall, "The Demise of Planet X" is a powerful and unapologetic statement from one of the UK's most exciting acts.
