Our Take
Galaxie 500's live set at CBGB on December 13, 1988, was a cosmic journey through the outer reaches of dream-pop. From the moment the trio took the stage, it was clear that they were on a mission to transport the audience to another dimension. Dean Wareham's ethereal vocals floated effortlessly over the pulsating drumbeats of Damon Krukowski and the swirling guitar of Naomi Yang. The setlist was a mix of their own mesmerising originals and beautifully reimagined covers, including an otherworldly rendition of Yoko Ono's "Listen, the Snow is Falling." The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly their performance of the shoegaze anthem "Tugboat."
