Our Take
Our Take
South African rock outfit BLK JKS have returned with their latest offering, "Abantu / Before Humans." This genre-bending album is a wild ride from start to finish, blending elements of traditional African music with psychedelic rock influences.
From the opening track "Harare," the band immerses listeners in a sonic landscape that is both familiar and otherworldly. The hypnotic rhythms and haunting vocals create a sense of unease that is both thrilling and exhilarating.
Tracks like "Desert Call" and "Zol" showcase the band's ability to seamlessly weave together disparate sounds and styles, creating a sound that is truly unique. The hypnotic guitar riffs and tribal drumming transport listeners to a place that feels simultaneously ancient and contemporary.
Throughout the album, BLK JKS prove that they are not afraid to take risks and push the boundaries of what is possible in music. Their fearless experimentation pays off, resulting in a collection of tracks that are both thought-provoking and infectious.
"Abantu / Before Humans" is a bold statement from a band that refuses to be confined by genre or convention. BLK JKS have once again proven themselves to be a force to be reckoned with in the world of music, and this album is a must-listen for anyone looking for something truly original and innovative.
