Our Take

MILEY CYRUS - Younger Now

In her latest release, Miley Cyrus takes us on a journey that is as perplexing as it is intriguing. "Younger Now" sees Cyrus shedding her wild-child image in exchange for a more mature sound, but did she lose her edge in the process?

The album kicks off with the title track, a catchy number that showcases Cyrus' impressive vocal range. With its twangy guitars and toe-tapping beat, it's a promising start to the album. Unfortunately, things take a turn for the worse with tracks like "Malibu" and "Rainbowland," which come across as overly saccharine and devoid of the spark that made Cyrus so captivating in the past.

However, there are moments of brilliance scattered throughout the album. Songs like "Week Without You" and "Miss You So Much" showcase Cyrus at her best, with heartfelt lyrics and infectious melodies that are sure to get stuck in your head.

Ultimately, "Younger Now" feels like a mixed bag. While Cyrus deserves credit for evolving as an artist, some tracks fall flat and leave the listener yearning for the rebellious spirit that made her a pop sensation. Here's hoping that Cyrus can find a happy medium in her next release.
