Our Take

Jeff Buckley's "You & I" is a tantalising glimpse into the late artist's creative process, giving fans an intimate look at his raw talent and unique approach to music-making. This collection of demos and covers showcases Buckley's haunting vocals and exceptional guitar skills in a stripped-back, acoustic setting. From the soulful rendition of Bob Dylan's "Just Like a Woman" to the haunting original track "Grace," Buckley's ability to convey emotion through his music is unparalleled. His cover of The Smiths' "The Boy with the Thorn in His Side" is a standout moment on the album, with Buckley's ethereal voice adding a new depth to the classic track. While some may argue that the demos lack the polish of Buckley's studio recordings, there is a certain charm to the rawness and spontaneity of these tracks. The simplicity of the arrangements allows Buckley's vocals to take centre stage, drawing the listener in with every haunting note. "You & I" is a must-have for any Jeff Buckley fan, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the iconic artist's creative process. It's a testament to Buckley's enduring legacy and his uncanny ability to connect with listeners on a deep, emotional level. So, grab a cup of tea, settle in, and let Jeff Buckley's music transport you to another world. Cheers, mate!

About the artist

Jeff Buckley

Jeff Buckley, a name that echoes through the hallowed halls of music history. With a voice that could make angels weep and a guitar prowess that would make even Hendrix blush, Buckley is a true legend of the 90s music scene. Born in California in 1966, Buckley was destined for greatness from a young age. The son of folk singer Tim Buckley, Jeff had music in his blood. But it wasn't just his lineage that made him stand out - it was his sheer talent and charisma that set him apart from the rest. Buckley burst onto the scene in the early 90s with his debut album "Grace". The album was a revelation, showcasing Buckley's incredible vocal range and emotive songwriting. Tracks like "Hallelujah" and "Last Goodbye" quickly became anthems for a generation, cementing Buckley's status as a musical icon. But it wasn't just his music that made Buckley so beloved - it was his enigmatic persona and devil-may-care attitude. Buckley was a true rock star in every sense of the word, with a penchant for wild antics and unpredictable behaviour. Tragically, Buckley's life was cut short in 1997, when he drowned in a freak accident at the age of just 30. His untimely death only served to cement his status as a musical martyr, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire and captivate audiences to this day. So here's to you, Jeff Buckley - a true musical genius, a rebel without a cause, and a legend that will never be forgotten.
