Our Take

Richard Thorncroft's latest album, "You Can't Handcuff the Wind," is a bizarre and unpredictable journey through the mind of a man who clearly has no regard for musical norms. From the opening track, "Crazy Pigeon Lady," Thorncroft takes listeners on a rollercoaster ride of off-kilter melodies and nonsensical lyrics.

The standout track, "Sausage Roll Symphony," is a cacophony of sounds that somehow manages to come together in a strangely cohesive way. It's as if Thorncroft is daring his audience to try and make sense of his musical madness, and I must say, I'm thoroughly entertained.

However, there are moments on the album where Thorncroft seems to lose his way, with tracks like "Banana Boat Blues" and "Dancing With My Duvet" veering dangerously close to self-parody. It's as if Thorncroft is testing the limits of his own eccentricity, and at times, it's a bit too much to handle.

Overall, "You Can't Handcuff the Wind" is a wild and wacky ride that will leave you scratching your head in confusion, but also tapping your foot in admiration. Richard Thorncroft may not be everyone's cup of tea, but for those willing to embrace the chaos, this album is a breath of fresh air in a world of cookie-cutter pop.
