Our Take

Tom Odell's latest album, "Wrong Crowd," is like a lukewarm cup of tea on a rainy day- comforting yet lacking that oomph that keeps you coming back for more. Odell's signature brand of brooding introspection is on full display on this record, with tracks like "Magnetised" and "Concrete" showcasing his knack for weaving heart-wrenching melodies with soul-baring lyrics.

However, the album as a whole feels a bit like a well-worn cardigan that's been passed down one too many times. The production is slick and polished, but lacks the raw energy and unpredictability that made Odell's earlier work so captivating.

That being said, there are still moments of brilliance to be found on "Wrong Crowd." The haunting piano ballad "Constellations" is a standout track, with Odell's vocals soaring over a sparse backdrop of keys and strings.
