Morta Skuld's latest offering, "Wounds Deeper Than Time," is like a fresh slap in the face from your great aunt Mildred at a family reunion - unexpected, uncomfortable, but strangely satisfying.
The Wisconsin-based death metal band showcases their signature blend of aggression and melody in this album, with tracks like "Inversion of Reality" hitting you like a ton of bricks while "Breathe in the Black" lulls you into a false sense of security before pummeling you with its relentless riffs.
Lead vocalist David Gregor's guttural growls add a layer of intensity to the music, making you feel like you're being chased by a pack of rabid wolves through a dark forest. The band's tight musicianship is on full display here, with drummer Eric House and guitarist Mike Feldman delivering punishing rhythms and blistering solos that will leave you reaching for the nearest neck brace.
