Our Take
Our Take
Ah, Turtles, the self-proclaimed masters of "psych-pop-folk-rock-surf-experimental-jazz" have graced us with their latest masterpiece, "Wooden Head". And let me tell you, it's a wild ride from start to finish.
Opening track "Shell Shock" sets the tone perfectly with its meandering guitars and whimsical lyrics about, you guessed it, turtles. The harmonies are as tight as ever, and the quirky instrumentation keeps you on your toes.
But it's tracks like "Turtle Power" and "Slow and Steady Wins the Race" where the band really shines. The former is a rollicking anthem that will have you dancing along while the latter slows things down to a meditative pace, with haunting vocals and intricate guitar work.
The album takes a darker turn with "Shelled Out", a brooding ballad that showcases the band's versatility and depth. And just when you think you've got them figured out, they hit you with the infectious earworm "Turtle Dove", a catchy tune that will be stuck in your head for days.
Overall, "Wooden Head" is a triumph for Turtles, proving once again that they are at the top of their game. So grab your favourite shell, kick back, and let the music transport you to a whimsical world where turtles reign supreme. You won't be disappointed.
