Jimi Hendrix - Winterland Back in 1968, a little-known guitarist named Jimi Hendrix took the stage at the legendary Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco and proceeded to blow the minds of everyone in attendance. Fast forward to 2021, and we finally have a proper recording of that historic performance, courtesy of the good folks at Experience Hendrix. From the moment Hendrix kicks off the set with a blistering rendition of "Fire," it's clear that this album is something special. His guitar work is simply out of this world, with every solo delivering a tantalising mix of technical prowess and raw emotion. Tracks like "Purple Haze" and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" showcase his genre-defying talent, while the poignant "Little Wing" reminds us of his soulful side. The band behind Hendrix - the Experience - also deserve a shoutout for their tight, dynamic playing throughout the set. Mitch Mitchell's drumming is a powerhouse, while Noel Redding's bass lines provide the perfect foundation for Hendrix's pyrotechnics.
