Our Take
Our Take
As I settled down with my cup of tea and digestives to give Zoom Karaoke's 'Whole Lotta Soul Superhits' a spin, I couldn't help but be intrigued by the promise of an album filled with absolute bangers. From the first track, it's clear that this compilation is not messing around.
With classic soul hits like Aretha Franklin's "Respect" and Marvin Gaye's "I Heard It Through The Grapevine," this album is a rollercoaster of emotions, taking you from funky dance vibes to heartfelt ballads in a matter of minutes. The dynamic range of songs on display here is truly impressive.
One standout moment for me was Otis Redding's "Sittin' On The Dock of the Bay," which transported me to a lazy summer day by the coast. The soulful vocals and laid-back groove had me swaying along in my seat, lost in a nostalgic haze.
However, not every track hits the mark. Some of the newer additions to the mix felt a bit out of place, disrupting the flow of the album. And while the karaoke versions are serviceable, they lack the raw energy and emotion of the original recordings.
Overall, 'Whole Lotta Soul Superhits' is a fun and nostalgic journey through some of the greatest soul hits of all time. Whether you're belting out these tunes at a karaoke party or just vibing in your living room, this album is sure to bring a smile to your face. Just be prepared for a wild ride from start to finish.
