Rick Astley is back, folks, and he's bringing the 80s with him in all their synthesised glory. Whenever You Need Somebody is a time warp to the era of big hair and questionable fashion choices, but hey, that's what we love about Astley, isn't it? From the moment you press play, you're transported to a world where cheesy pop reigns supreme and sincerity is in abundance. "Together Forever" is a bop that will have you dancing like it's 1987 all over again, while "Never Gonna Give You Up" is the anthem we never knew we needed (or wanted, for that matter). But don't be fooled by the catchy hooks and infectious beats - there's more to this album than meets the eye. Astley's voice may be smooth as butter, but his lyrics pack a surprising amount of depth and emotion. "Take Me to Your Heart" is a tender ballad that showcases his vulnerable side, while "She Wants to Dance with Me" is a cheeky romp that will have you grinning from ear to ear. In a world where authenticity is hard to come by, Rick Astley is a breath of fresh air.
