About the artist

Brian Henry Hooper

Anytime Brian Henry Hooper took to the stage, you knew something special was about to unfold. A true pioneer of the Australian indie rock scene, Hooper's distinctive basslines and gravelly vocals have left a lasting impact on the music world. Hooper first rose to prominence as a member of the legendary band Beasts of Bourbon, where he showcased his immense talent for crafting infectious melodies and thought-provoking lyrics. His solo work only further solidified his reputation as a musical genius, blending elements of punk, blues, and rock to create a sound uniquely his own. Despite facing numerous health challenges over the years, Hooper never let his spirit dim. His resilience and determination to keep creating music served as an inspiration to many, earning him a devoted fanbase that spanned the globe. Offstage, Hooper was just as captivating. His dry wit and irreverent sense of humour made him a joy to be around, always ready with a quip or a witty observation that would leave you in stitches. Whether he was holding court at a music festival or sharing a pint at the local pub, Hooper had a way of making everyone feel like an old friend. Tragically, we lost Hooper in 2018, leaving a void in the music world that can never be filled. But his legacy lives on in the songs he wrote, the performances he gave, and the memories he created. Brian Henry Hooper may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.
