Our Take
Our Take
Sometimes in the vast and unpredictable world of music, you stumble across hidden gems that make you stop in your tracks and question everything you thought you knew. Herman Rarebell & Friends' latest offering, "What About Love?", is not one of those gems.
This album feels like a drunken karaoke session at your local pub, where the band is out of tune, the lyrics are forgotten, and the audience is cringing in their seats. Rarebell, the former Scorpions drummer, teams up with a motley crew of "friends" to deliver what can only be described as a cacophony of confusion.
The opening track, "Love Is a Funny Feeling", sets the tone for the rest of the album with its generic lyrics and lacklustre instrumentation. It's like someone threw a bunch of '80s rock clichés into a blender and hit puree.
Throughout the album, Rarebell and his friends try to evoke feelings of nostalgia and romance, but all they manage to do is induce eye rolls and involuntary groans. The ballads are syrupy and overwrought, the rockers are uninspired and derivative, and the whole thing just feels like a sad attempt at recapturing past glory.
In conclusion, "What About Love?" is a forgettable, cringeworthy mess that fails to deliver on every level. Do yourself a favour and give this one a miss.
