Our Take

Ah, Louis Tomlinson, former member of the world-conquering boy band One Direction, now breaking out on his own with his debut album "Walls." The title track kicks things off with its anthemic chorus, but it's the subtle hints of indie rock influences that make this song stand out. Tomlinson's vocals are as smooth as silk, gliding effortlessly over the jaunty guitar riffs.

"Kill My Mind" has a certain swagger to it, like Tomlinson is daring you to resist its infectious energy. The 80s-inspired synths give this track a nostalgic feel, reminiscent of a time when pop music was all about big hair and even bigger hooks.

But it's on "We Made It" where Tomlinson really shines, delivering a heartfelt ode to a past love with raw emotion and vulnerability. The stripped-back production allows his vocals to take center stage, showing a depth and maturity that we haven't seen before.

Overall, "Walls" is a solid debut from Tomlinson, showcasing his growth as an artist and his willingness to explore new sounds. While there are moments of predictability, there are also flashes of brilliance that hint at even greater things to come. Louis may have started building his walls, but with this album, he's breaking them down one song at a time.
