Our Take
Ah, W.A.S.P., the band that brought us such classics as "Animal (Fuck Like a Beast)" and "Blind in Texas". Their self-titled debut album, W.A.S.P., is a wild, raucous ride through the dirty back alleys of 80s metal. From the opening track "I Wanna Be Somebody" to the closing anthem "Sleeping (In the Fire)", Blackie Lawless and company deliver a headbanging, fist-pumping homage to all things sleazy and debauched. The guitar riffs are as sharp as a razor blade, the vocals are as menacing as a biker gang, and the lyrics are as cheesy as a late-night horror movie. It's pure, unadulterated metal madness, and we love every minute of it. Sure, some may scoff at the band's over-the-top theatrics and shock value, but that's all part of the charm. W.A.S.P. knows exactly what they're doing, and they do it damn well. So, grab a bottle of Jack Daniel's, throw on your leather jacket, and crank up the volume. W.A.S.P. may not be for the faint of heart, but for those who like their music loud, proud, and unapologetically ridiculous, this album is a must-listen.
