Our Take
Philip Shouse's debut album, simply titled Vol 1, is a delightful romp through the world of rock and roll. The Nashville-based musician, known for his work with bands like Gene Simmons Band and Accept, showcases his skills as a songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist on this 10-track collection. From the opening track "Ready for the Ride" to the closing number "Last Goodbye," Shouse takes the listener on a wild ride filled with catchy riffs, infectious hooks, and plenty of rock swagger. His influences are clear - from classic rock legends like Aerosmith and Van Halen to more modern acts like The Darkness and Greta Van Fleet - but Shouse manages to put his own spin on the genre, creating music that feels both familiar and fresh at the same time. Standout tracks include the anthemic "Rock n Roll Control," the bluesy ballad "Fool for Your Love," and the high-energy "Don't Wanna Wait Anymore."
