Our Take

Will Haven's latest offering, Voir Dire, is a rollercoaster of an album, filled with twists and turns that will leave you dizzy in the best possible way. From the moment you press play, you are transported into a world of heavy riffs, brutal screams, and chaotic energy.

The band's unique blend of metal, hardcore, and noise rock is on full display here, with tracks like "El Sol" and "Winds of Change" hitting you like a ton of bricks. The intricate guitar work and thunderous drumming create a wall of sound that is both relentless and captivating.

But it's not all about the aggression - there are moments of beauty and restraint on Voir Dire that show a more nuanced side to Will Haven. The haunting melodies of "Hive Mind" and the atmospheric build-up of "Choke" showcase the band's ability to create atmosphere and tension.

Overall, Voir Dire is a triumph for Will Haven, a band that continues to push boundaries and defy expectations. If you're a fan of heavy music that is both challenging and rewarding, this is an album you won't want to miss. Strap yourself in and prepare for a wild ride.

About the artist

Will Haven

Will Haven are a Sacramento-based metal band that have been pummeling eardrums since the mid-90s. With a sound that can only be described as a sonic assault on the senses, these guys have carved out a niche for themselves in the heavy music scene. Formed in 1995, Will Haven have released six studio albums to date, each one more brutal than the last. Known for their intricate guitar work, bone-crushing bass lines, and throat-shredding vocals, this band doesn't pull any punches when it comes to delivering their signature brand of sludgy, abrasive metal. Their live shows are a sight to behold, with frontman Grady Avenell commanding the stage like a man possessed, while the rest of the band churns out riff after punishing riff. It's no wonder they've garnered a cult following over the years, with fans flocking to their shows to experience the sheer intensity of their live performance. But don't let their aggressive sound fool you – these guys are some of the nicest, most down-to-earth musicians you'll ever meet. They may look like they want to tear your face off on stage, but offstage, they're just a bunch of laid-back dudes who love making music together. So if you're a fan of heavy music that packs a punch, do yourself a favor and check out Will Haven. Just be sure to wear some earplugs – you're gonna need 'em.
