Our Take
Our Take
Ah, Kansas, the band that brought us classics like "Carry on Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind." So what do these American rock legends have in store for us with their 1982 album "Vinyl Confessions"? Well, let's just say it's a bit of a mixed bag.
The album kicks off with "Play the Game Tonight," a synth-heavy track that feels like it's trying a bit too hard to keep up with the 80s trends. But fear not, because things start to pick up with "Right Away," a more guitar-driven number that showcases the band's signature sound.
But just when you think you've got a handle on the album, along comes "Fair Exchange," a ballad that sounds like it could have been ripped straight from a cheesy 80s movie soundtrack. It's a bit cringeworthy, but hey, at least it's catchy.
Overall, "Vinyl Confessions" is a bit of a rollercoaster ride. It's got its highs and lows, its hits and misses. But for fans of Kansas, it's definitely worth a spin. Just maybe skip over "Chasing Shadows" if you're not in the mood for a power ballad that goes on for what feels like an eternity.
So in conclusion, while "Vinyl Confessions" may not be Kansas' strongest album, it's still a fun little journey through the band's discography. Just don't expect it to blow your mind.
