Our Take
Our Take
U ROY's "Version Galore" is an absolute banger of an album. It's like taking a trip back in time to the heyday of reggae music, but with a fresh modern twist that keeps you grooving from start to finish.
From the moment the first track kicks in, you know you're in for a wild ride. U ROY's signature style of toasting over classic reggae rhythms is on full display here, and it's impossible not to get swept up in the infectious energy of his delivery.
Each track on "Version Galore" is a masterclass in storytelling, with U ROY spinning tales of love, life, and everything in between. The production is top-notch, with each beat and melody perfectly complementing his smooth flow.
Standout tracks like "Chalice in the Palace" and "Wear You to the Ball" will have you hitting repeat over and over again, while deeper cuts like "Natty Rebel" and "Tom Drunk" showcase U ROY's versatility as an artist.
Overall, "Version Galore" is a must-listen for any fan of reggae music. U ROY's talent and charisma shine through on every track, making this album a true joy to listen to. So grab a drink, kick back, and let U ROY take you on a musical journey you won't soon forget. Cheers!

With his signature style of toasting (or DJing as it's known in Jamaica), U ROY revolutionised the sound of reggae in the 1970s, bringing his unique blend of lyrics and rhythm to the forefront of the music scene. Born Ewart Beckford in Kingston, Jamaica in 1942, U ROY's career began in the late 1960s, when he started performing at local sound systems and clubs. It wasn't long before his distinctive voice and rhythmic flow caught the attention of producers, leading to the release of his debut album "Version Galore" in 1971. U ROY's impact on the music world cannot be overstated. His innovative approach to toasting laid the foundation for the development of hip-hop and dancehall music, influencing countless artists along the way. His collaborations with artists such as The Paragons and The Melodians have cemented his legacy as a true icon of reggae music. Despite his decades-long career, U ROY shows no signs of slowing down. His performances are a masterclass in showmanship and his infectious energy can still electrify a crowd like no other. Whether you're a die-hard reggae fan or a newcomer to the genre, U ROY's music is guaranteed to make you move, groove, and maybe even learn a thing or two about the history of reggae. So next time you're looking for a musical education with a side of entertainment, look no further than the one and only U ROY.
