Ah, IN FLAMES, the Swedish metal legends that have been melting faces and blowing minds for decades. Now, with their latest album 'Used And Abused', they continue to prove why they are one of the most enduring and influential bands in the genre.
From the moment the opening track kicks in, you are hit with a ferocious wall of sound that is as intense as it is infectious. The guitars are blistering, the drums are thunderous, and the vocals are like a guttural roar from the depths of hell. It's a metal fan's dream come true.
But what sets IN FLAMES apart from the countless other bands in the genre is their ability to infuse melody and hooks into their brutal sound. Tracks like 'Doomsday Machine' and 'The Mirrors Truth' are perfect examples of this, with catchy choruses that will have you singing along while headbanging like there's no tomorrow.
However, 'Used And Abused' is not without its flaws. Some of the tracks can feel a bit repetitive and formulaic, lacking the innovation and experimentation that we have come to expect from the band. But, hey, when you're as good at what you do as IN FLAMES, a little predictability is forgiven.
Overall, 'Used And Abused' is a solid addition to the band's impressive discography. It may not reinvent the wheel, but it doesn't need to. IN FLAMES are masters of their craft, and this album is just another reminder of why they are still on top after all these years. Long live metal!
