Our Take
METZ's latest album, "Up On Gravity Hill," is a relentless onslaught of noise and chaos that will leave you questioning your own sanity. From the opening track, "Headache," to the closing notes of "Blurred Vision," this Canadian trio does not hold back in their mission to blow out your eardrums and leave you in a state of shock.
The band's signature blend of punk, noise rock, and post-hardcore is on full display here, with each track sounding like a sonic assault on the senses. The guitars wail and screech, the drums pound like a jackhammer, and lead vocalist Alex Edkins' screams cut through the cacophony like a knife through butter.
Standout tracks include the thrashy "Pulse," the frenetic "Frustration," and the brooding "No Ceilings." Each song is a masterclass in controlled chaos, with the band expertly navigating the fine line between discord and harmony.
While "Up On Gravity Hill" may not be for the faint of heart, fans of METZ's trademark brand of noise rock will find plenty to love here. This is music that demands to be played loud, preferably in a dark, sweaty basement with a crowd of equally manic fans. In short, METZ have once again proven themselves to be one of the most exciting and uncompromising bands in modern rock music. Don't sleep on this album.
