Our Take

MIKE LOVE's "Unleash The Love" is like a musical rollercoaster ride through the mind of a man who is clearly stuck in the 60s. The Beach Boys alum has created an album that is equal parts nostalgia-inducing and cringe-worthy.

From the cheesy lyrics to the outdated production, Love seems to be living in a world where bell-bottoms and flower crowns are still in style. Gone are the harmonies and surf rock vibes of his heyday, replaced instead with lacklustre melodies and overly auto-tuned vocals.

The album is a mishmash of genres, with reggae, pop, and even a bizarre attempt at rap all thrown together in a haphazard fashion. It's as if Love is desperately trying to stay relevant in a music world that has long moved on without him.

Despite its flaws, "Unleash The Love" does have a few bright spots. The title track, a collaboration with John Stamos, is a catchy, if slightly cringeworthy, ode to spreading positivity. And the heartfelt ballad "Pisces Brothers" shows that Love still has the ability to tug at our heartstrings.

Overall, "Unleash The Love" is a mixed bag that will likely only appeal to die-hard Beach Boys fans or those looking for a good laugh. Love may have unleashed his love, but it seems that the music world has all but left him behind.
