Our Take

Portuguese dark metallers MOONSPELL have returned with their debut studio album Under The Moonspell, and let me tell you, it's a brooding masterpiece worthy of every gothic romance novel ever written.

The album kicks off with "God's Dark Petting Zoo," a track that sets the tone for the rest of the record - hauntingly beautiful melodies, bone-chilling vocals, and an overall mood that transports you to a mysterious realm where the moon always shines.

Lead vocalist Fernando Ribeiro's vocals are as powerful as ever, ranging from sinister whispers to soaring, operatic cries that will send shivers down your spine. The rest of the band is in top form as well, with intricate guitar work and atmospheric synths creating a dense, immersive soundscape.

Standout tracks include the doom-laden "Lunar Symphony" and the epic closer "Moonspell Rhapsody," which clocks in at over 10 minutes and takes the listener on a rollercoaster ride of emotions.

Overall, Under The Moonspell is a triumph for the band, showcasing their evolution and growth as musicians. It's a dark and dreamy journey that will satisfy fans of the genre and newcomers alike. So grab your velvet cloak, light some candles, and let MOONSPELL take you on a moonlit adventure you won't soon forget.

About the artist

Moonspell

MOONSPELL are the Portuguese metal legends, and they've been haunting stages around the world for over three decades now. Forget about being just another metal band- MOONSPELL are a force to be reckoned with, blending gothic influences, symphonic elements, and a healthy dose of sheer metal mayhem. Led by frontman Fernando Ribeiro, who can switch effortlessly from a guttural growl to a haunting, melodic croon in seconds, this band knows how to keep their audience on their toes. Their live shows are a spectacle to behold - expect fire, blood, and a whole lot of headbanging. And don't even get me started on their wardrobe - these guys could give Lady Gaga a run for her money. Their discography is as diverse as it is thrilling, with albums ranging from the gothic masterpiece "Wolfheart" to the dark and brooding "1755," a concept album about the Great Lisbon Earthquake. Each release showcases the band's ability to evolve and experiment, while still staying true to their roots. But don't just take my word for it - MOONSPELL have garnered a loyal cult following over the years, and for good reason. Whether you're a seasoned metalhead or just dipping your toes into the genre, MOONSPELL are guaranteed to leave you spellbound. So buckle up, because this rollercoaster ride of darkness and intensity is one you won't want to miss.
