Our Take
With their third studio album "Under Lock and Key," DOKKEN proves that the 80s hair metal scene is alive and kicking - at least for now. The band's signature blend of screeching guitar solos and power ballads is on full display here, reminding us why they were one of the biggest names in the genre. From the opening track "Unchain the Night" to the anthemic "In My Dreams," DOKKEN delivers all the melodic hooks and slick production that fans have come to expect. Frontman Don Dokken's soaring vocals are as impressive as ever, showing off his range and control with each note. But let's not overlook the true stars of the show here - the guitar work. George Lynch's shredding skills are on full display throughout the album, leaving no doubt that he is one of the best in the business. From the blistering solos on "Lightning Strikes Again" to the intricate riffs on "It's Not Love," Lynch's playing is nothing short of jaw-dropping. Sure, some may dismiss DOKKEN as just another 80s nostalgia act, but "Under Lock and Key" proves that they still have plenty of juice left in the tank.
