Our Take
Ah, Puddle of Mudd - the band that just won't go away. With their latest album "Ubiquitous," they continue to prove that they are the masters of forgettable radio rock. From the opening track, you're hit with the classic Puddle of Mudd formula - generic lyrics, uninspired melodies, and a whole lot of angst. Frontman Wes Scantlin's vocals sound as strained and strained as ever, adding an extra layer of cringe to the already lacklustre music. The production on "Ubiquitous" is slick and polished, but it's like putting lipstick on a pig - no amount of studio magic can hide the fact that these songs are just plain boring. The band seems to be stuck in a time warp, churning out the same tired sound that was tired back in the early 2000s. Tracks like "Life On Display" and "Let It Out" try to inject some energy into the album, but ultimately fall flat. Even the obligatory ballad, "Without Me," fails to stir any emotion - it's just another rehash of the same tired tropes we've heard a million times before. In the end, "Ubiquitous" is just more of the same from Puddle of Mudd - and that's not a good thing. If you're looking for some mindless rock to tune out to, then maybe this album is for you. But if you're looking for something with a bit more substance, look elsewhere. Trust me, you won't be missing much.
