Our Take
Tyla Tylain - British English Once in a blue moon, a record comes along that defies all expectations, challenges societal norms, and makes you question your own existence. Tyla Tylain's latest offering, "British English," is not that record. Filled with clichéd guitar riffs, lackluster vocals, and lyrics that sound like they were penned by a sixth-form poetry student, "British English" is about as innovative as a soggy biscuit. From the opening track "Tea and Crumpets" to the closing ballad "Rainy Day in London," Tylain fails to do anything remotely original or interesting with the British music scene. It's as if Tylain took a crash course in British culture, hastily threw together some lukewarm melodies, and called it an album. The result is an uninspired mess that is about as memorable as yesterday's leftover shepherd's pie. The production on "British English" is as flat as a pint of warm beer, with no discernible growth or evolution throughout the record. It's as if Tylain was content to rest on their laurels and deliver the bare minimum required to get by. In conclusion, "British English" is a forgettable, meandering mess of an album that fails to leave any lasting impression. Tyla Tylain should stick to their day job and leave the music to those who actually have something to say.
