Our Take
Our Take
Tankard, the German thrash metal veterans known for their beer-soaked anthems and energetic live performances, are back with their latest offering, "Two-Faced." This album is like a pint of your favourite ale - it goes down smoothly, leaves you feeling a little buzzed, but might have you regretting it the next morning.
The opening track, "One Foot in the Grave," sets the tone for the rest of the album with its relentless riffs and pounding drums. Frontman Andreas Geremia's gravelly vocals soar above the chaos, delivering lyrics that are equal parts humorous and apocalyptic. It's as if the band is inviting you to join them in their chaotic, beer-fuelled world.
Tracks like "Arena of the True Lies" and "Think Tank Baby" showcase Tankard's knack for blending aggression with melody, creating a sound that is both headbang-inducing and strangely catchy. The guitar solos are blistering, the rhythm section is thunderous, and the overall energy is infectious.
However, "Two-Faced" does have its flaws. Some of the songs blend together, making it difficult to distinguish one track from another. The production can be a bit muddy at times, with the mix lacking clarity and punch. And while Tankard's signature sense of humour is present throughout the album, some of the jokes fall flat, feeling forced and uninspired.
In conclusion, "Two-Faced" is a solid addition to Tankard's discography, showcasing the band's trademark thrash sound with a few twists and turns along the way. Pour yourself a pint, crank up the volume, and enjoy the ride. Cheers!

Tankard
TANKARD: The Kings of Beer Metal When you think of German thrash metal, bands like Kreator and Sodom may come to mind. But there's one band that stands out for their unique blend of aggressive riffs, pounding drums, and...beer. Yes, you read that right – Tankard, the self-proclaimed "Kings of Beer Metal," have been rocking beer-soaked stages since the early 1980s. Formed in Frankfurt in 1982, Tankard quickly made a name for themselves with their energetic live performances and tongue-in-cheek lyrics about all things beer. Frontman Andreas "Gerre" Geremia's gravelly vocals and charismatic stage presence have become synonymous with the band's sound, while guitarist Frank Thorwarth, drummer Olaf Zissel, and bassist Andreas Bulgaropulos provide the blistering musical backdrop. Tankard's discography is a beer-fueled journey through the highs and lows of the thrash metal scene. From their early releases like "Zombie Attack" and "The Morning After" to their more recent albums like "One Foot in the Grave" and "R.I.B. (Rest in Beer)," Tankard have stayed true to their roots while continuing to push the boundaries of their genre. Whether you're a die-hard thrash metal fan or just looking for a good time, Tankard's infectious energy and irreverent attitude are sure to leave you headbanging and reaching for another cold one. So grab a beer, crank up some Tankard, and let the "Kings of Beer Metal" take you on a wild ride through the world of thrash. Cheers!
