Our Take

Ahhh Interpol, the band that always manages to make us dance and cry at the same time. Turn On The Bright Lights, their debut album, is like a fine wine - it just gets better with age.

The album kicks off with the iconic track, "Untitled," and right from the start, you know you're in for a wild ride. Paul Banks' haunting vocals paired with Daniel Kessler's intricate guitar work create a sound that is both mesmerising and chilling.

"Obstacle 1" hits you like a ton of bricks, with its infectious riff and anthemic chorus. This is the kind of song that you'll find yourself humming for days on end, much to the annoyance of your friends and family.

But it's not all doom and gloom on Turn On The Bright Lights. "NYC" is a love letter to the band's hometown, with lyrics that paint a picture of late-night adventures in the city that never sleeps. And "Stella Was a Diver and She Was Always Down" is a brooding ballad that showcases Interpol's ability to tug at our heartstrings.

Overall, Turn On The Bright Lights is a masterpiece that solidified Interpol as one of the most important bands of the early 2000s. So grab a glass of wine, turn down the lights, and let this album sweep you off your feet. British indie at its finest. Cheers.
