Our Take

Special Interest's debut album, Trust No Wave, is a deliciously chaotic assault on the senses. Packed full of gritty guitar riffs, pulsating synths, and fierce vocals, this New Orleans band definitely lives up to their name.

From the opening track, "Young, Gifted, Black, In Leather," to the closer, "Riding Highway 1," every song on Trust No Wave oozes with energy and attitude. The band effortlessly blends elements of post-punk, noise rock, and electronica to create a sound that is uniquely their own.

Lead singer Alli Logout's vocals are a force to be reckoned with, delivering biting lyrics with a sense of urgency and passion that is impossible to ignore. The rest of the band - Maria Elena Delgadillo, Ruth Mascelli, and Nathan Cassiani - provide the perfect sonic backdrop, creating a wall of sound that is both abrasive and melodic.

Standout tracks include the infectious "All Tomorrow's Carry," the brooding "Tourism Leech," and the anthemic "Head." Each song is a mini-masterpiece in its own right, showcasing the band's knack for crafting unforgettable hooks and memorable melodies.

Overall, Trust No Wave is a powerful, thrilling debut that demands to be heard. Special Interest are a band to watch, and with this album, they have firmly established themselves as one of the most exciting acts in the underground music scene. Trust us, you won't regret giving this album a spin.

About the artist

Special Interest

Special Interest are the anarcho-punk darlings we never knew we needed. Hailing from New Orleans, this four-piece band is a force to be reckoned with, blending elements of post-punk, industrial, and riot grrrl to create a sound that is as confrontational as it is danceable. Lead vocalist Alli Logout's raw, unapologetic lyrics tackle everything from gender identity to political unrest, all set against a backdrop of relentless drum machines and squealing synths. This is music that demands to be heard, to be felt in your bones. Their debut album, "Spiral Mafia," was a revelation, receiving critical acclaim from both fans and critics alike. Tracks like "The State I'm In" and "Disco III" are anthems for the disenfranchised, rallying cries for those who refuse to be silent in the face of oppression. Special Interest's live shows are a sight to behold, with Logout's commanding presence on stage electrifying audiences across the globe. Their energy is infectious, their message incendiary. In a music industry plagued by predictability, Special Interest are a breath of fresh air. They are unapologetically themselves, challenging the status quo with every note they play. In a world that often feels like it's falling apart, they are a beacon of hope, a reminder that music can still be a catalyst for change.
