Our Take

The Troggs, a band who famously declared "Wild Thing, you make my heart sing," have returned with their latest album Trogglodynamite and it's... well, let's just say it's a bit of a mixed bag.

The album kicks off with a bang on the track "From Home" with its infectious guitar riffs and unmistakably groovy bassline that will have you tapping your foot in no time. However, things take a bit of a nosedive with the lacklustre follow-up "Feels Like a Woman." The repetitive chorus and uninspired lyrics leave much to be desired.

Thankfully, the Troggs redeem themselves with the surprisingly catchy "Come Now." The combination of jangly guitars and lead singer Reg Presley's distinctive vocals make this track a standout on the album. But just when you think they've hit their stride, they throw in a curveball with the experimental "Hot Days." While it's an interesting departure from their usual sound, it ultimately falls flat.

Overall, Trogglodynamite is a solid effort from the Troggs, but it's not without its flaws. The band showcases their undeniable talent and knack for catchy hooks, but at times it feels like they're phoning it in. Fans of the Troggs will find plenty to enjoy here, but newcomers may want to start with their classic hits before diving into this one.
