Our Take

Ah, Tool, the band that takes more breaks between albums than my nan does between cups of tea. But when they do grace us with their presence, you can bet your bottom dollar it's going to be worth the wait. And their latest offering, "Transmission Impossible," is no exception. From the moment you press play, you're hit with that signature Tool sound – intricate guitar riffs, thunderous drums, and Maynard James Keenan's haunting vocals that could send shivers down the spine of even the toughest bloke down the pub. The opening track, "Mind Control," sets the tone for the rest of the album – dark, mysterious, but with a hint of twisted beauty. Tracks like "Lunar Eclipse" and "Reality Distortion Field" showcase the band's ability to seamlessly blend heavy metal with progressive rock, creating a listening experience that's as mind-bending as it is toe-tapping. And let's not forget the 12-minute epic, "Interdimensional Portal," which sees the band go full-on psychedelic, taking you on a journey through space and time. But it's not all serious business with Tool – tracks like "Alien Abduction Boogie" and "UFO Funkadelic" add a touch of humour to the mix, proving that even the most enigmatic of bands can let loose once in a while. Overall, "Transmission Impossible" is a testament to Tool's status as one of the greatest rock bands of our time – if you're a fan of the band, or just a fan of damn good music, do yourself a favour and give this album a spin. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
