Our Take
Our Take
Ah, David Bowie, the man, the myth, the legend. Toy:Box is a collection of early recordings that were meant to be Bowie's follow-up to his 2001 album "Heathen." Unfortunately for us, it never saw the light of day until now.
From the moment you hit play, it's clear that Toy:Box is a delightful time capsule of Bowie's creative genius. The album kicks off with the groovy track "Uncle Floyd," a playful nod to the American comedian of the same name. Bowie's vocals are on point, as always, and the catchy melody is sure to get stuck in your head for days.
As you make your way through the album, you'll be treated to a mix of rock, pop, and even a touch of cabaret. Tracks like "You've Got a Habit of Leaving" and "In the Heat of the Morning" showcase Bowie's exceptional songwriting skills and eclectic taste.
But it's not all sunshine and rainbows on Toy:Box. The album does have its fair share of filler tracks that may leave you scratching your head. "Shadows of the Night" and "Let Me Sleep Beside You" feel a bit uninspired compared to the rest of the album.
Overall, Toy:Box is a must-listen for any die-hard Bowie fan. It may not be his most groundbreaking work, but it's a charming peek into the early days of one of music's greatest icons. So grab your glitter and put on your dancing shoes, because Bowie is back and better than ever.

About the artist
David Bowie
Ah, David Bowie. The chameleon of rock. The shape-shifter of pop. The icon of androgyny. This man needs no introduction, but I'll give him one anyway. Bowie burst onto the scene in the 1970s, dazzling us with his flamboyant stage presence and out-of-this-world personas. From Ziggy Stardust to the Thin White Duke, he captivated audiences with his groundbreaking music and avant-garde style. But it's not just Bowie's theatricality that sets him apart. His music is a genre-bending blend of rock, pop, electronic, and everything in between. Whether he's crooning "Space Oddity" or getting funky with "Let's Dance," Bowie's discography is as diverse as it is innovative. And let's not forget his collaborations with the likes of Queen, Lou Reed, and Iggy Pop, which further solidify his status as a musical legend. Bowie's impact on the industry is undeniable. He paved the way for countless artists to embrace their individuality and push the boundaries of creativity. And his influence continues to be felt today, with musicians of all genres citing him as a major inspiration. So here's to David Bowie, the man who showed us that music knows no limits and that being yourself is the greatest gift of all. Rest in peace, Starman.
