Our Take

Album: CORONAS - Thoughts & Observations

Rating: 7.5/10 "Good Craic"

Ah, The Coronas, the band that can make you feel like you're at a lively pub in Dublin even if you're just sitting in your dingy flat. Their latest album, Thoughts & Observations, is a delightful mix of infectious melodies and soulful lyrics that will have you singing along in no time.

From the opening track "Pints & Paranoia" to the closing ballad "Whiskey in the Rain", The Coronas have managed to capture the essence of a good old-fashioned Irish knees-up. The catchy hooks and foot-stomping rhythms transport you to a place where Guinness flows freely and the craic is mighty.

Lead singer Danny O'Reilly's gravelly vocals are the perfect complement to the rollicking guitar riffs and pounding drums. It's like listening to a drunken poet spill his heart out over a pint of stout.

While some tracks may blur together after a few listens, overall Thoughts & Observations is a solid effort from The Coronas. It's not groundbreaking by any means, but sometimes you just need some good old-fashioned feel-good music to lift your spirits.

So grab a cold one, put on Thoughts & Observations, and let The Coronas whisk you away to a world where the worries of everyday life fade away in a haze of jigs and reels.Sláinte!

About the artist

The Coronas

Emerging from the depths of Dublin, CORONAS is the four-piece indie rock band with a sound as infectious as a summer cold. With a career spanning over a decade, these lads have cultivated a loyal fan base thanks to their catchy hooks and energetic live performances. Frontman Danny O'Reilly leads the charge with his soulful vocals, backed by the tight instrumentation of Graham Knox on bass, Conor Egan on drums, and Dave McPhillips on guitar. Together, they create a sound that is equal parts anthemic and intimate, drawing listeners in with heartfelt lyrics and dynamic melodies. Their latest album, "True Love Waits", showcases their maturation as songwriters while still retaining the raw energy that has become their signature. Tracks like "Haunted" and "Light Me Up" blend shimmering guitar riffs with pulsating rhythms, creating a sonic landscape that is both nostalgic and fresh. CORONAS have the ability to take you on a journey with their music, transporting you to a place of introspection and euphoria in the span of a single song. Whether you're dancing in a crowded club or driving alone at night, their music has a way of connecting with you on a deeply personal level. So if you're in the mood for some feel-good tunes with a touch of Irish charm, look no further than CORONAS. They may not be wearing crowns, but they certainly reign supreme in the world of indie rock.
