Our Take
Our Take
Ah, Savatage, the pioneers of the theatrical metal scene. Never ones to shy away from bombastic storytelling and epic guitar riffs. Their latest album, "The Wake Of Magellan," is no exception.
From the moment the first notes of the title track hit, you are transported to a world of high seas and adventure. With Jon Oliva's powerful vocals leading the charge, you can't help but get caught up in the grandeur of it all.
Tracks like "Complaint In The System" and "Underture" showcase the band's technical prowess, with intricate guitar work and pounding drums that will make even the most hardened metalhead nod in approval.
But it's not all about shredding guitars and thunderous drums. The ballad "Another Way" showcases the band's softer side, with heartfelt lyrics and a soaring chorus that will tug at your heartstrings.
Overall, "The Wake Of Magellan" is a triumphant return for Savatage, reminding us why they are one of the most revered bands in metal. So don your eyepatch, grab your cutlass, and set sail with this epic album. Savatage have once again proven why they are the true masters of the high seas of metal. Aye, aye, captain!

About the artist
Savatage
Formed in Tarpon Springs, Florida in 1979, Savatage is a band that defies all traditional genre boundaries. With their unique blend of progressive metal, power metal, and even elements of classical music, Savatage has carved out a distinct niche in the music industry. Led by brothers Jon and Criss Oliva, Savatage burst onto the scene in the 1980s with their debut album, "Sirens." Known for their technical proficiency and intricate song structures, the band quickly gained a dedicated fanbase around the world. Throughout their career, Savatage has released a string of critically acclaimed albums, including "Gutter Ballet" and "Streets: A Rock Opera." Their ambitious concept albums and theatrical live performances have cemented their reputation as one of the most innovative and boundary-pushing bands in the metal scene. But it hasn't always been smooth sailing for Savatage. Tragedy struck in 1993 when Criss Oliva was killed in a car accident, leaving a void in the band that would never truly be filled. Despite this devastating loss, Savatage soldiered on, releasing several more albums and continuing to push the boundaries of their music. With their blend of shredding guitars, soaring vocals, and epic storytelling, Savatage is a band that refuses to be pigeonholed. Whether you're a die-hard metalhead or just someone looking for something a little bit different, Savatage has something for everyone. So crank up the volume, throw up the horns, and let Savatage take you on a wild and unpredictable musical journey.
