Our Take

Ah, Andy Gibb. The baby-faced heartthrob of the disco era, with a voice smoother than a silk scarf on a summer's day. The Very Best Of compilation album reminds us why Andy was the king of the charts back in the day.

From the infectious groove of "Shadow Dancing" to the soulful balladry of "I Just Want to Be Your Everything", every track on this album is a certified bop. Gibb's falsetto vocals soar effortlessly over the lush production, creating a sound that is both timeless and unmistakably disco.

But it's not just the hits that make this album a must-listen. Deep cuts like "An Everlasting Love" and "Time is Time" showcase Gibb's versatility as a singer and songwriter. Each track is a little time capsule, transporting us back to a time when polyester was king and dance floors were packed.

Sure, there are moments of cheesy nostalgia on this album, but isn't that part of the fun? Andy Gibb may have left us too soon, but his music lives on in this fantastic collection of hits. So grab your bell-bottoms, dust off your disco ball, and get ready to boogie the night away with the Very Best Of Andy Gibb. Trust me, you won't regret it.

About the artist

Andy Gibb

Andy Gibb may not have been the most conventional artist in the disco era, but his charm and silky smooth vocals certainly left a lasting impression on the music industry. Born on March 5, 1958 in Manchester, England, Gibb was destined for stardom from a young age, thanks to his older brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb, better known as the Bee Gees. Despite his family's success, Andy carved out his own path in the music world, blending pop, disco, and a touch of soul in a way that was uniquely his own. His debut album, "Flowing Rivers," released in 1977, showcased his effortless knack for catchy hooks and heartfelt lyrics, earning him a legion of devoted fans. While some may have dismissed Gibb as a mere heartthrob, his music was anything but superficial. Tracks like "I Just Want to Be Your Everything" and "Shadow Dancing" displayed a depth and vulnerability that resonated with audiences around the world. Unfortunately, Gibb's career was tragically cut short when he passed away at the young age of 30 in 1988. However, his music continues to live on, a testament to his undeniable talent and lasting impact on the music industry. Andy Gibb may not have been a household name like his brothers, but his contributions to music are undeniable. So next time you're in the mood for some smooth, soulful tunes, why not give Andy Gibb a spin? Trust us, you won't be disappointed.
