Our Take
Our Take
Hail, Caesar! EX DEO return with their latest offering, "The Thirteen Years Of Nero," a bombastic journey into the heart of ancient Rome. Led by frontman Maurizio Iacono, known for his work with Kataklysm, this band of merry minstrels transports us back in time to relive the tumultuous reign of the infamous emperor Nero.
From the opening track "The Fall of Claudius" to the epic closer "A Dream of Vespasian," EX DEO deliver a sonically thrilling experience that is part history lesson, part headbanger's delight. The thunderous drums, soaring guitar solos, and Iacono's commanding vocals create a larger-than-life atmosphere that is sure to have you donning a toga and demanding a chariot race.
However, "The Thirteen Years Of Nero" is not without its faults. Some may find the over-the-top theatrics and pseudo-Latin lyrics a tad cheesy, but hey, this is metal, not Shakespeare. Embrace the campiness and revel in the sheer epicness of it all.
Ultimately, EX DEO have crafted an album that is as grandiose as the Colosseum itself. So grab your gladius, raise your goblet of wine, and prepare to pillage and plunder your way through "The Thirteen Years Of Nero." Veni, vidi, rocki!
