Our Take

In the pantheon of glitter rock gods, Marc Bolan reigns supreme with his band T.REX and their latest offering "The Slider" on clear vinyl is a psychedelic trip that's as groovy as a lamborghini cruising down the Sunset Strip.

From the opening chords of "Metal Guru" to the heavenly harmonies of "Telegram Sam," this album is a glam rock masterpiece that will have you reaching for your feather boa and platform boots in no time. Bolan's charismatic vocals soar over crunchy guitar riffs and lush string arrangements, creating a sound that's both retro and timeless.

But it's not all just about the music. The album cover, featuring Bolan riding a blue dragon, is a glorious work of art that perfectly captures the whimsical, otherworldly vibe of T.REX. And let's not forget the iconic songs like "Ballrooms of Mars" and "Buick Mackane" that will have you dancing under the moonlight like a cosmic cowboy.

If you're looking for a musical journey that's equal parts nostalgic and groundbreaking, then "The Slider" is the album for you. So grab a glass of glittery champagne, slip on your electric corduroy bell-bottoms, and let T.REX take you on a star-spangled trip to the outer reaches of glam rock heaven. Cheers, darlings!

About the artist

T.Rex

T.REX is the brainchild of English singer-songwriter and glam rock pioneer, Marc Bolan. With his trademark curly hair, glittery outfits, and larger-than-life persona, Bolan became a cultural icon in the 1970s. Born Mark Feld in London in 1947, Bolan found early success as a member of the mod band John's Children before forming T.REX in 1967. The band's breakthrough came in 1970 with the release of their self-titled album, which featured the hit singles "Ride a White Swan" and "Metal Guru." Known for their catchy hooks, provocative lyrics, and electrifying live performances, T.REX quickly became one of the most popular acts of the glam rock era. Bolan's flamboyant stage presence and sizzling guitar riffs captivated audiences around the world, earning him a legion of devoted fans. Despite their commercial success, T.REX faced criticism from some music critics who dismissed them as mere purveyors of style over substance. However, their influence on the glam rock genre cannot be overstated, with artists ranging from David Bowie to Iggy Pop citing Bolan as a major inspiration. Tragically, Bolan's life was cut short in 1977 when he was killed in a car accident at the age of 29. But his legacy lives on through T.REX's music, which continues to inspire new generations of fans and musicians alike. With their anthemic rock anthems and infectious glam energy, T.REX remains a timeless and essential part of the music landscape.
