Dick Dale, the King of the Surf Guitar, is a true legend in the world of music. Born Richard Monsour in 1937, Dale grew up in Massachusetts before moving to California, where he fully embraced the surf culture and sound that would define his career. His signature style of playing the guitar at lightning speed, coupled with his wild stage presence, made him a force to be reckoned with in the 1960s music scene. Dale's most famous song, "Misirlou," gained renewed popularity in the 1990s when it was featured in Quentin Tarantino's cult classic film "Pulp Fiction." The track's infectious energy and Dale's virtuosic guitar playing helped introduce a new generation to his music and solidified his status as a music icon. Despite facing health struggles in his later years, including battles with cancer and diabetes, Dale continued to perform and record music up until his passing in 2019.
