Our Take

Steve Marriott, Tim Hinkley, and Greg Ridley must have been feeling extra cheeky when they named their latest release "Scrubbers Vol. 1." And let me tell you, this album is an absolute scrubber in the best sense of the word.

From the moment the needle drops on the opening track, you are transported to a smokey, dimly lit pub in the heart of London. The gritty, bluesy sound of Marriott's vocals paired with Hinkley's groovy organ playing and Ridley's solid bass lines create a musical concoction that is as intoxicating as a pint of Guinness.

Tracks like "Cockney Sparrow" and "Send Your Children to the Orphanage" showcase Marriott's raw talent as a vocalist, while Hinkley and Ridley provide the perfect backdrop of soulful melodies and infectious rhythms.

But don't be fooled by the fun, upbeat sound of this album - there is a darker, more introspective side to "Scrubbers Vol. 1" as well. Songs like "Prisoners" and "I Thought I Was a Child" delve into themes of loneliness and heartache, showing a more vulnerable side to these seasoned musicians.

Overall, "Scrubbers Vol. 1" is a delightful romp through the seedy underbelly of London's music scene. Marriott, Hinkley, and Ridley have created a sonic masterpiece that is sure to leave you tapping your feet and reaching for another round. Cheers to that!

About the artist

Steve Marriott, Tim Hinkley & Greg Ridley

Steve Marriott, Tim Hinkley, and Greg Ridley are the unsung heroes of the British music scene. Individually talented in their own right, these three musicians came together to form the legendary band Humble Pie, creating a sound that was both soulful and rocking. Steve Marriott, with his charismatic stage presence and powerful vocals, was the driving force behind Humble Pie. He was a true showman, known for his energetic performances and soulful delivery. Tim Hinkley, on the other hand, brought his skills as a keyboardist and songwriter to the table, adding a layer of complexity to the band's sound. And let's not forget about Greg Ridley, the man behind the bass guitar. His solid playing and tight groove held Humble Pie's music together, providing the foundation for the band's epic jams and fiery solos. Together, these three musicians created a sound that was uniquely their own. Blending elements of rock, soul, and blues, Humble Pie carved out a niche for themselves in the music world, influencing countless bands and musicians along the way. Despite their undeniable talent and musical prowess, Humble Pie never quite achieved the same level of commercial success as some of their contemporaries. But for those in the know, they remain a legendary band whose music continues to inspire and delight audiences to this day. So here's to Steve Marriott, Tim Hinkley, and Greg Ridley – three unsung heroes of the British music scene who deserve a place in the pantheon of rock and roll legends.
