Our Take
Behemoth's The Satanist is a powerhouse of an album that will make you want to trade in your rosary beads for a black leather jacket. The Polish extreme metal band has crafted a dark and intense masterpiece that will leave you questioning your own mortality and wondering if maybe Lucifer isn't such a bad guy after all. From the hauntingly beautiful album artwork to the blistering riffs and guttural vocals, Behemoth doesn't hold back on The Satanist. Tracks like "Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel" and "Ora Pro Nobis Lucifer" are full of blistering energy and sinister atmosphere, while "Ben Sahar" slows things down a bit with its brooding melodies and haunting atmosphere. Frontman Nergal's vocals are absolutely ferocious, with a range that goes from the depths of hell to the heavens above in a matter of seconds. The rest of the band is equally impressive, delivering tight and precise performances that will have you headbanging from start to finish. If you're a fan of extreme metal or just looking to dip your toes into the dark waters of Satanism, Behemoth's The Satanist is the album for you. Just make sure you have a nightlight handy, because this album is not for the faint of heart.
