DISCIPLES' latest offering, "The Rushin," hits like a double-decker bus careening down the streets of London. Blending infectious beats with jittery synths and soulful vocals, this album is a wild ride from start to finish.
From the opening track, "London Calling," to the pulsating anthem "Rush Hour," DISCIPLES take listeners on a whirlwind tour of UK garage, house, and dancehall influences. It's as if they've bottled up the spirit of a rowdy night out in Soho and distilled it into musical form.
But what sets "The Rushin" apart from your average dance album is DISCIPLES' willingness to push boundaries and experiment with different sounds. Tracks like "Tea Time Rave" and "Punk Polka" showcase the band's versatility and willingness to take risks, even if they don't always pay off.
While some may find the album a bit too chaotic and unfocused, I see it as a testament to DISCIPLES' creative spirit and refusal to be boxed in.
